In order to graduate from Maquoketa High School, a student will need to successfully complete 27 units.

4 Units (eight semesters) of English

Grade  9 – English 9 or Strategic Reading 9 – 1 Unit

Grade 10 – English 10 or Strategic Reading 10 – 1 Unit

Grade 11-English 11 or Elements of Writing & Contemporary Literature–1 Unit

Grade 10-12 – Speech – .5 Unit

Grade 9-12 – English Elective – .5 Unit

3 Units (six semesters) of Social Sciences

Grade  9 – Global Cultures – 1 Unit

Grade 11 – U S  History – 1 Unit

Grade 12 – Government – .5 Unit

Grade 9-12 – Social Science Elective – .5 Unit

3 Units (six semesters) of Sciences

Grade  9 – General Science – 1 Unit

Grade 10-12 – Four semesters of science electives – 2 Units

3 Units (six semesters) of Mathematics

Grade 9 – Pre-Algebra or Algebra IA or Algebra I or Geometry – 1 Unit

Grade 10-12 – Two semesters (1 Unit) of mathematics electives – 1 Unit

Grade 10-12 – 1 Unit of additional mathematics electives – 1 Unit

.5 Unit (one semester) of Health Education

Grade 9-10 – Health Education – .5 Unit

2 Units of Physical Education

Grade 9-12 – One semester per year – 2 Units

11.5 Units (twenty-three semesters) of Electives

Grade 9-12 – Any elective courses available at that grade level – 11.5 Units
